Welcome to Cannabis, California.

An Arizona based company that makes products to support the marijuana industry says they have purchased a small town in California, near the Nevada border, with the hopes of turning it into a cannabis friendly tourist destination.

American Green, based in Phoenix, purchased the tiny town of Nipton for $5 million, according to a report in Bloomberg.

The unincorporated town is about an hour drive from Las Vegas, and four hours from Los Angeles.

It features a general store, hotel, recreational vehicle park, campgrounds, schoolhouse and two small houses, and has been for sale for over a year.

American Green plans to invest up to $2.5 million in the property over the next 18 months, with the hopes of converting it into a cannabis themed tourist destination.

The company will convert existing structures and build new construction to revitalize the town, which will be powered by renewable energy from nearby solar arrays.

The project’s manager, Stephen Shearin, said he expects the company’s acquisition will be highly profitable as recreational marijuana gains wider acceptance.

“The Gold Rush built this city,” Shearin says. “The Green Rush can keep it moving the way people envisioned it years ago.”

Nipton is a former mining town, with a current population of about 20 residents.

The personal, recreational use of marijuana is legal for adults in both California and Nevada.
