When medical cannabis was legalized in my state, I was really unsure of what to think.
I had only really heard of cannabis as a recreational drug that more and more young people were getting into. I honestly thought this might be a negative thing for my community, so I expressed my concerns with a friend of mine. My friend told me that there were a lot more benefits to medical cannabis than I realized. After our conversation, I began looking into some of the benefits that I might have been unaware of. To my surprise, I learned that cannabis can reduce anxiety. It can reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. There are also many medical benefits of cannabis in treating life threatening diseases. I found a lot of research regarding the benefits of cannabis for cancer patients. For one thing, it helps with the nausea that chemotherapy can cause. It also is known to help with appetite and weight gain for cancer patients. Research also suggests that medical cannabis can be a beneficial treatment for individuals with MS. The more I read, the more I realized I didn’t know what I was talking about before. I could see that there were clearly an abundance of benefits to legalizing the use of medical marijuana. In fact, I am surprised it took so long!
