The nosy neighbor called the cops on us

My wife and I let our son move back home after he was in a fight with his girlfriend.

They needed some time apart and he needed a place to stay for a while.

Our son moved into the house a few months ago and the neighbors have caused a number of problems. Jack has a medical marijuana card and he uses medical cannabis 4 anxiety and depression. He is not allowed to use marijuana inside of the house. I don’t care that he smokes, but I don’t want the entire house to smell like a cannabis dispensary. My son often sits outside on the back porch where there is a nice view of the park and the Waterfront. A few weeks after he moved to the house, my wife and I were surprised by a knock on the door. It was the County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff said he had several reports of marijuana smoke coming from our home. He wanted to come in and have a look and I absolutely refused his request. I provided him with enough information to go away. I told the sheriff that my son has a medical marijuana card that allows him to use the product freely. When he asked for a copy of the information, I politely suggested it was time for him to get a warrant and time for the nosy neighbors to mind their own business. I know the cops thought he was going to bully my family because of the smell of marijuana, but I know all of my legal rights.
